Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Anything you type into a search tool on this site travels straight to the outside provider that runs that tool. The provider processes the entry and sends back a result. Nothing you type is stored or logged on our side.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we keep the message so we can answer it. It stays inside our team. We will not pass it to anyone outside the organization unless a legal duty requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each page load hands our servers a small set of technical details about the visit:
- The pages you opened and how long each stayed on screen
- Your device type and its operating system
- The IP address your device was assigned
- The browser you used and its version
- The referring site, when there was one
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site sets cookies, which are small files stored on your device. They show us which pages draw traffic and where readers leave. Analytics services pull that activity into aggregate reports. You can block cookies through your browser at any time. Some parts of the site may act differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
We put the data we collect to a short list of uses, and nothing beyond them.
- Passing your search request to the right partner service
- Serving ads that may relate to your interests
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Seeing which pages help readers and which need work
- Finding and repairing technical faults
No Warrant Data on File
We do not host, compile, maintain, or sell warrant databases or personal warrant records. What we publish is general guidance about where Cass County records sit and how to reach them: the 43rd Circuit Court and 4th District Court file rooms, the sheriff's office, the Friend of the Court, and the Michigan court system's public case lookup.
Court files are governed by MCR 8.119, not by the state records law. Sheriff records fall under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231 et seq., with a five business day response window under MCL 15.235. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we gather about visitors becomes a consumer report about anyone.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Whatever you enter there is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide how long they keep data and who they share it with, and we have no say in either. Read the partner's policy before you run a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to the Cass County courts, the sheriff's office, the Friend of the Court, Michigan's public case lookup, and outside search services. Following any of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy applies. Read it before you share personal details.
Advertising partners may track your activity across sites to place targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not on ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information can reach:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and speed
- Ad networks that place ads on these pages
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- A court or law enforcement office when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We apply standard security practices to the data we hold. No system connected to the internet is unbreakable. We work to keep your information safe, and we cannot promise that a breach will never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231 et seq., and state consumer-protection provisions may give you extra rights over your data. At a minimum you can:
- Request a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change as the site changes. When it does, the new version appears here with an updated effective date. Check back to track how we handle visitor information.
